On Wednesday, June 24, 2015, in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, Emilie J. Cupp of Hopwood was installed as the first female Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of Pennsylvania of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows.
The Independent Order of Odd Fellows is a fraternal organization, founded in 1819 in Baltimore, Maryland. The Order seeks to elevate the character of men and women, and thus create a better social environment for people. The principles of the Order are Friendship, Love and Truth; Faith, Hope and Charity; and Universal Justice which seek to promote peace and harmony throughout mankind. In Pennsylvania there are 77 Odd Fellow Lodges, which meet on a regular basis. As part of her duties as Grand Master, Ms. Cupp will visit the lodges throughout the state and promote Odd Fellowship.
